GMADA Aerotropolis land pooling: most owners chose land, not cash
For anyone searching property in Mohali, flats in Aerotropolis Mohali, plots in Aerotropolis Mohali.
Hindustan Times, 22 September 2026. Pockets E to J are still an acquisition. A landowner’s choice is not a plot you can book.
Hindustan Times reported on 22 September 2026 that land pooling is the choice most owners have made so far on the GMADA Aerotropolis residential project, pockets E, F, G, H, I and J. This is not the occupied Aerocity blocks, and it is not a flat in IT City.
The paper cited Punjab Urban Development Authority figures collected through the online land-acquisition service by 3 pm that Monday. It said 2,468 applications had come in. Of those, 2,206 were still under process and 262 had been completed and closed. Do not add those two lines and expect a third total. 2,206 plus 262 is 2,468.
On the compensation choice, the same report is narrower. Among 2,281 applications where a choice had been recorded, 1,896, or 83 percent, opted for land pooling, covering 1,102 acres. The opening line of the article says only a handful chose cash. 2,281 minus 1,896 is 385 applications that were not in the land-pooling count. Hindustan Times printed both the “handful” and the 83 percent. Leave the gap visible. Neither number is a price per square yard for a resale plot.
- As of 21 September, 112 letters of intent had been signed.
- An official told the paper that 10 revenue officials were being deputed and that the remaining LOIs were expected in 15 to 20 days.
- GMADA expected about 7,000 applications in all. The window was still open until 17 November.
- The acquisition scale in the same article: awards for around 3,523 acres, put at ₹23,457 crore. That is the award total, not a rate for one pocket and not an asking card on 99acres.
The decision, if you are searching for GMADA Aerotropolis plots or an Aerotropolis LOI: pockets E to J are still the acquisition, not a finished street. A landowner taking land pooling is not the same person as a buyer holding a transferable plot in pockets A to D. Ask which pocket, whether the LOI is signed, and whether the road exists. The Aerotropolis page on this desk is the place to start, not a brochure that treats all nine pockets as one product.
